Rev. Mickey Mak

Pastor Mickey and his wife Phoebe were born and raised in Hong Kong, both used to be English teachers.  In the early 1990’s, they moved to live in the US for almost 15 years, between two cities — Philadelphia and Columbus, Ohio.

In 1997, a historic year for all Hongkongers when the colony was handed back to China, Pastor Mickey heeded God’s calling, quit from a teaching post in The Ohio State University, withdrew his Educational Linguistics doctoral candidacy from the University of Pennsylvania, and then enrolled himself in Westminster Theological Seminary in Philly.  Having finished his MDiv in 2000, he returned to Columbus and started serving as English Pastor in a local Chinese Church.  In 2005, he and his family were led back to HK to stay for another 15 years, serving in an Alliance church, the Worldwide Bible Society, an Evangelical Free Church, and AWANA HK.

Four years ago, the Lord opened the door and made it possible for the Maks to re-enter the North American soil.  Pastor Mickey began working in a Baptist Church in Vancouver.  He and his family obtained the PR status in Dec 2024.  His elder son Nathan was born in Ohio and now resides in LA, California.  Osco, 10 years Nathan’s junior, is studying music at UBC, year 2, majoring in percussion.
