7. English Ministry Plans and Focus for September through December 2026

Throughout this year we have been planning our English ministries around our EM church theme – that of Stepping Out in Faith. As we enter the fall and move into next year we will continue to do so. The first part of the fall we will focus on reconnecting as a community of faith. We will hear reports from Raenanne (September 27) and the Casa de Luz team (October 18). There are two joint services scheduled as well – Thanksgiving Sunday (October 11) which includes a baptismal service and our Missions Conference Sunday (October 25). Then in November we will have a short sermon series based on the book of Philemon. We are calling the series “Becoming a Grace-Extending Community.” Our adult Sunday school will be following the theme of Hope and Hospitality as we encourage you to step out in faith and practice biblical hospitality – that of welcoming the stranger. These classes will run over six weeks – September 20 & 27, October 4, November 1, 8 & 15. Mark these dates on your calendar and plan to attend as we share together in God’s calling on us to step out in faith and be a grace-extending church. There is more planned so keep reading your bulletin for further updates or talk to Pastors Don and Bill.

Furthermore, even though well-meaning, misapplying these statements as promises from God can not only lead to disappointment with God but a breakdown of a person’s faith and trust in God. The purpose of this series is to understand what God did not say as well as to clearly understand and apply in our lives what God has said. If we are to “step out in faith” – our theme for this year – we can only do so as we put our faith and trust in who God really is and what he is really like.

Committee chairmanship, Sunday School teachers or others evangelistic works of the Gospel and is recognized as a faithful and responsible worker (I Cor. 4:2, I Tim. 3:10).

11. New Sermon Series

We are starting a new sermon series as of April 19. We are calling this series Stories from a Roadtrip with Jesus. We are continuing our focus on what it means to step out in faith as followers of Jesus, both as individuals as well as a community of faith. This particular series will take us through what is sometimes referred to as the Travel Narrative in the Gospel of Luke – Luke 9:51 to 19:27. We will be looking in particular at the stories (parables) Jesus told that Luke has recorded in this section to find out how they can apply in a practical way to our lives today
